The takehome concludes with page 3 and page 4. You should study these pages in preparation for the final.

Here is a questionnaire page 1 page 2 that will help me improve the course. Please fill it out and return.

The takehome quiz 4 is due 6 Dec 99.
The takehome quiz 3 is due 29 Nov 99.
Here is the format for the project report. Watch this space for answers to additional questions I have not anticipated.
Friday 29 Oct I handed out a spec sheet on the class project assignment. Here is an expanded version of this project specs.
Someone pointed out that the problems assigned for Monday 1 Nov at the beginning of the hour did not match what I told people at the end. So, here is compromise of the two versions: Section 5.2 (page 318), {2,4,6} originally due 29oct deferred to Monday 1nov. The three parts of the assignment are thus: {2,4,6,8} real distinct eigenvalues, {10,12,14} complex eigenvalues, {18,20,22} 3dimensional system. That makes 10 problems.

Here are solutions, kindly provided by your TA and grader, for work turned in 8oct99 that completes materials included on the midterm. Please pick up back papers previously returned. These will be removed from their location after this week.
Here is a solution to problem 46 we discussed today. You have a reprieve for the problem set due today. This was pg 205 ## 38,40,46,48,50,52,54,56,58,62. If you handed it in today you will see it graded in time to be useful for the test in a week. Otherwise, submit any undone work on Monday for future grading.

Your TA, Anthony, has kindly prepared a recipe and model solution to problem 26: page 1and page 2.

Homework for Monday, 04oct99, is p218 # 24,26 and 28. In the old edition, on p196, these are 20,22,and 24. But there is a typo in 20, the exponent on the cosine should be 2 not 3.
Here is the solution to the quiz. Note the typos on the handout that are corrected here. Page 1 has the first two problems, and page2 has the solution for the extra credit part. Study this, because something like it will be on the midterm on October 15.
