This is a cleaned up version of 13jan05 with Pelsmajer.
But we have errors introduced by trying to lighten up
the dim view of things. (gkf 11feb04)

Also, this is not yet the IrisGL version. There are features
as yet untranslated.

The cpack function never did work right. In Board.C there is a
partial rationalization using glColor4f but we should use glColor4fv
and experiment some more. 

I don't know where the pieces are painted.

I also don't understand the idea behind the line, which now is 
just the secondary for that corner. Logically, that line should 
be white ... the color for W. 

If we're going to put an axis in, then there should be a wire 
box in XYZ space, with colored edges, red, green and blue. 

Similarly there should be similar colored edges in the other views,
with the long one being white.
