The syllabus is the same for both versions of the course. Reasonable exceptions for deadlines can be negotiated, but the exams schedule is not flexible.

Modifications for the online version of the course include the following:

1. The normal mode of submitting homework is by means of a web application, TeXwin, which enables you to compose your work using LaTeX mathematical symbols notation, and to include figures created by KSEG. Our server will typeset your work in the .pdf format and return it to your browser for confirmation. When you are satisfied, you submit your work, along with the KSEG file that created any figures for credit, and feedback.

2. Since TeXwin may fail, or be otherwise unreliable, you should also do all of your work by hand in your journal (see the journal description), including constructions with ruler-and-compass. You may submit your journal by mail for credit and corrections. Remember, you will use your journal during the midterm and the final, and you will have to draw your figures by hand on the exams.

3. There are online tutorials for learning to use TeXwin and KSEG, as well as detailed insructions for keeping a useful mathematical journal, on how to write complete, self-explanatory homework assignments, and use ruler-and-compass to make constructions by hand.

4. Rapid return email and telephone consultation replace walk-in office visits.
