Contract Grade:(A+,A,A-) based on completion of agreed upon project.
      The project consists of 
      * a real-time interactive computer animation (RTICA) 
      * with complete documentation (see below).
Journal:
  *Good quality, bound (string sewn) notebook, e.g. marble composition, etc 
  *Number pages, write on one side only, keep an index in the back.
  *Will be collected, commented on, and ammended periodically (ca 2 week cycle).
     
DPGraph: Handout and Homework 

Lab Machines: 
   *Mac + Windows.
   *Use AD password to get into the Mac, check Mouse
   **Apple>System Preferences> Keyboard&Mouse> Mouse> Buttons (1)(3)(2)(off).  
   *Use AD password to get  into XP running in Fusion.
   **Click on HD (upper right) > click Windows > etc 
   *Please log out of Windows before "suspending" VMWare Fusion.
   *Log out of Macs when leaving the room. 
   *ONLY for the moment, remember which machine you've worked on and 
    return to it. 
   *Soon you we will have a common space on the Mac Server for accessing
    files form any machine in this room, and remotely.  

Text Books:
   *Google for all, 
   *Blinn for Programmers, 
   *Francis for Artists and Mathematicians. 
   *Reference shelf in the REU-Lab. (Not a lending library.)

Conduct of Course, in thirds:
   First: Introduction to mathematical visualization, lessons, tutorials.
      *Lessons have mathematical content, the geometry behind computer graphics.
      ** and the mathematical visualization that requires a computer. 
      *Tutorials are mostly about techniques of general interest.
      *Supervised labs, with individual help.

   Second: More tutorials, but student reports replace most lessons.

   Third: Everybody works on their projects, interrupted only by specialized
          tutorials on a subject of interest to more than two students.

   Finals: 
       * Presentations of project in a public seminar.
       * Demonstration of the RTICA in an immersive virtual environmen (IVE). 
       * Written documentation of project (in TeX).
       * Webpage (in HTML).

   Lesson of the Day and Homework for W2 using DPGraph (aka Cyclone98):
   Objective: Be able to download and work with  
       * David Parker's amazingly intelligent, remarkably versatile, and
         surprisingly spartan (minimal) software package.(Opposite of bloatware)
       * Explore, and report (Journal) on some of the examples in the package.
       * Create your own DPGraph RTICA, document it and prepare a talk on it.
